Zain Group
Zain Group ( formerly MTC ) is Multinational Corporation specializing in Mobile Telecommunications. Its area of operations include the seven countries in the Middle East, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Sudan ,and in Lebanon as mtc touch, and in 14 sub-Saharan countries in Africa as Celtel : Burkina Faso, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
Asiacell
Asiacell is the first & oldest GSM Company in Iraq. It was established 1999 under ‘no fly’ zone by Iraqi businessman Mr. Faruk Mustafa Rasool. At the beginning Asiacell network coverage was primarily in Sulaimaniya, Iraqi Kurdistan only of about 70,000 subscribers. Today, Asiacell is a consortium composed of Asiacell Company for Telecommunication, LTD (51%), Wataniya Telecom(40%) and the United Gulf Bank (9%).The license granted on October 7, 2003 by the Iraqi Ministry of Telecommunications, allows Asiacell to operate in Northern Iraq and expand to the rest of the country the second year. The company currently has more than two million subscribers.
Korek Telecom
Korek Telecom is a Kurdish mobile phone operator comapany in Pirmam, Erbil, in the north of Iraq. It is a shared limited company registered in Iraq to operate and provide GSM service in the capital of Kurdistan , Erbil and province of Duhok. On November 2000, the ministry of telecommunications in Kurdistan Region has granted KOREK telecom 5 years exclusive GSM mobile license for operating a mobile network in the region covered by the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan (Erbil) and the province Duhok.The region has about 2.5 million inhabitants.
