Antique Furniture
Antique Furniture would like to introduce you to our formal provincial furniture. Our examples are taken from the cultural circles of Austria that once belonged to the family Habsburg. We specialized in original painted furniture. We personally identify ourselves with originally painted furniture, all early forms of biedermeire and of all periods of Artwork. Dealing with antiques enables or curiousity to grow, and to peek deep into the world of art. Our most important goal in dealing is to be truthful to our customer in relaying information.
Gothic furniture
The Gothic cupboard was originally used for storing personal possessions or food. The more prestigious burgher style of cupboard was developed by placing two chests on top of each another. In the rural areas furniture was made almost exclusively of softwood (stone pine, pine, fir), which rarely survives for more than 500 years. For that reason little Gothic furniture has been preserved. Chests from this period were often made without the use of glue. The joints were simply assembled and secured with wooden pegs. The design of the Gothic chest with its gable top presumably derives from the models of ancient Greece and Rome.

We specialize in antiques, focusing on historic Austrian furniture, building materials and sculptures from the 15th to 19th century. We restore antique furniture in our own workshop in the spirit of traditional master craftsmanship.
