DESCRIPTION:The hospital is at the forefront for specialized and general healthcare in Iceland, and is the central knowledge base for service and education of healthcare professionals. It has a strong connection with the University of Iceland, especially after a cooperation agreement in 2001. Bilateral and mutual institutional goals have been set for the aims of the hospital and the university and use of specialized knowledge and materials. Cooperation takes place on institutional aims, human resources, organization of academic studies in the hospital, and basic and developmental research and teaching programs for shared employees and the public.

DESCRIPTION:The hospital is connected to the Landspítali University Hospitals power grid which is 100% redundant.Nine distribution boards with a redundant power supply, the switch boards in the intensive care unit have automatic switchover.
