The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) (Turkish: Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankas? - "TCMB") is the central bank of Turkey and is founded as a joint stock company with the exclusive right to issue banknotes in Turkey. The preparations to establish a central bank began in 1926, but organization was established on October 3, 1931 and opened officially on January 1, 1932.

Vak?fBank’s initial purpose was the management of the cash revenues and expenditures of the charitable foundations set up during the Ottoman Empire period. Vak?fBank was established in Ankara and quickly began conducting banking activities with branch offices in Istanbul, Ankara and ?zmir.
