Pontificia Universitas Lateranensis
The Pontifical Lateran University was founded by Pope Clement XIV in 1773 entrusted the Faculty of S. Theology and Philosophy del Collegio Romano to the clergy of Rome.It was Leo XII, in 1824, to move the seat at the Palais de S. Apollinaris where Pius IX in 1853 founded the Faculty of Canon Law and Civil Law and the Pontifical Institute Utriusque Iuris.
Pontifica Università Gregoriana
The Pontifical Gregorian University, and heir continuatrice del Collegio Romano founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1551, takes place at dawn of the third millennium at the intersection of Church and Society, between faith and culture. Continuing its tradition centennial repeatedly reaffirmed by Pope, wants to be at the service of the Churches of every part of the world and is characterized by his being Ecclesiastical Pontifical University, entrusted to the Society of Jesus. Based in Ignatian spirit, aims to train people from all cultures because God knows where to find live in the future and, according to his own vocation, lead the world to God.
