Vilniaus Gedimino Technikos Universitetas September 1, 1956 is considered to be the date of founding a higher technical school in Vilnius, when the Vilnius Evening division of the Evening faculty of Kaunas Politechnical Institute (KPI) was established. The Dean of this division became a specialist in chemistry Assoc Prof Jeronimas KUDABA (1909-92).
