Bu-Ali Sina University
This university was established in 1353(1975), and started its academic activities with the admission of several students in a few programs.This university has 32 departments , most of which admit students at B.Sc. and M.Sc. levels. Therefore, this university is moving toward a bright future with assured steps, and it will create and develop more suitable methods to meet the basic needs of this province and region like educating expert and skillful persons and supporting the government organization.
Alzahra University, exclusively for women, was founded in the area of Vanak in 1964. In the beginning, this educational center began giving its services as The Higher Educational Institute For Girls". The first students to enroll were 90 in Translation, Secretarial Studies, and Psychology. In the second year of its establishment 1965-66 another field of study, Home Economics, was added and this allowed more students the opportunity to register. During the academic year of 1975-76, the Higher Institute for Girls was expanded to a university with four faculties of Basic Sciences, Literature and Humanities, Economics and Administration Science.

Foundation for Iranian Studies
The Foundation for Iranian Studies was established in 1981 as a non-profit educational and research institution to preserve, study, and transmit Iran's cultural heritage; to study contemporary issues in Iranian government and society; and to point to the probable social, economic, political, and military directions Iran might take in the 21st century. The Foundation will increasingly serve as an information center for the study of Iran’s past, present and future. Non-partisan and non-political, the Foundation believes authentic, objective scholarship can and should encompass a multiplicity of intellectual contributions and a diversity of opinions.
Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences
The Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) was established in 1991 under the auspices of the then Ministry of Culture and Higher Education. Its goal is to bring about an atmosphere for creative education and dynamic research in which high-level teaching of the basic sciences would go hand-in-hand with fundamental and applied research. The IASBS is a degree granting institution with Master's and Doctoral programs only. Since September 2000, however, it has started a new program in physics for a nationally selected group of distinguished high school graduates. The program, a first attempt at the national level, will train these select group of students over a period of seven years, granting them a Ph.D. degree in physics if they meet the required criteria for that degree.
Institute for Caspian Studies
The International Institute for Caspian Studies (IICS) is a non governmental research and consultancy institute based in Tehran and aimed at promoting and undertaking scholarly studies regarding political, economic, social, cultural, environmental, and legal issues of the Caspian region. Founded in 1998 the institute seeks to build a comprehensive research and information centre capable of encouraging researchers and other interested parties to follow the multifaceted issues of the regional countries and bring new prospectives to the regional problems. The main areas of research are the countries bordering the Caspian Sea, with special focus on topics of common interest in the region
Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics
The Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics (IPM) was founded in 1989 under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (formerly the Ministry of Science and Higher Education). Initially a Director and, upon his recommendation, a six-member Scientific Council (three mathematicians and three physicists) were appointed by the Minister in 1989. The appointments were based on the IPM Constitution approved by the Ministry. Initially, IPM consisted of two departments, namely the Department of Mathematics, and the Department of Theoretical Physics. These departments were headed by professors from the respective fields from the established universities based in Tehran. The Council, however, was composed of members from universities and higher education institutions nation-wide
Founded in 1974, the University of Kashan is the oldest institution of higher education in Kashan. At the time of its foundation, only undergraduate courses in Physics and Mathematics were offered. The current activities of the university are classified into four sections of education, research, development, and side activities. In educational section over 4500 students are studying in about 50 undergraduate and graduate fields.
Kerman, Shahid Bahonar University
The Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman is one of the youngest universities in Iran. The university ranks among the 8 top Iranian universities for its educational and research activities as well as its design and developement.The generous founder of the university, the late Mr. Alireza Afzalipour, donated almost all of his wealth to establish this scientific center. This would have been almost impossible in a remote region like Kerman, if it were not for his vision and enthusiasm. Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences

The University of Mazandaran (UMZ) is the most important university in the province of Mazandaran. It was established in September 1979 by merging the former local colleges and institutions. Today, UMZ is supervised and managed by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) and consists of six faculties, offering undergraduate courses of studies leading up to bachelors degrees (B.A or B.Sc ) in thirty nine departments. Twenty six of these programs extend to postgraduate levels of M.A, M.Sc and/or Ph.D programs and the organization still aiming to improve its well established postgraduate programs.
National Research Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology

Sharif University of Technology
The fundamental aims of Sharif University of Technology are three. The first is the creation of an institution where students can be instructed in both theoretical and applied sciences with special emphasis on the particular needs of our society. The second is to teach students the advanced knowledge and techniques required to participate in the fields of engineering and technology and to cultivate them into creative engineers, good scientists and innovative technologists. The third is to educate engineers who are ready to be employed, who contribute significantly to their jobs, who have a strong sense of public responsibility and a desire to continue to learn. Particular emphasis is placed on the promotion of multi-disciplinary research at the graduate and doctoral levels.
The initial nucleus of Shiraz University was formed in 1946 with the establishment of the junior College of Health which aimed at training specialists in the Medical Sciences during a four year program. In 1949 this was transformed to a Medical College and shortly thereafter in 1953 the Namazi School of Nursing and in 1955 the Colleges of Agriculture and Arts and Sciences were established. Shiraz University which, prior to the Islamic Revolution, was called Pahlavi University was founded in 1954 with the addition of the College of Engineering and College of Veterinary Medicine. Other units that were subsequently added were the Dental School in 1969, the Graduate School and the Junior College of Electronics in 1969, and the Colleges of Law and Education in 1977. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Revolutionary Council was founded in 1980 and extensive fundamental changes were implemented at universities at large. These changes were also reflected in the context of Shiraz University which presently consists of 9 colleges .
Shiraz University of Medical Sciences
The forerunner of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences was a High Institute of Health which in a four year period trained experts in medical sciences. This University was initially under the auspices of Shiraz University ? Pahlavi University in the former regime. The High Institute of Health developed into Medical Faculty in 1950. In 1954, Namazi Higher Institute for Nursing and in 1970 the Faculty of Dentistry were added to medical sciences at Shiraz University.
Sistan and Baluchestan University
As a pioneer in the field of higher education in the province of Sistan and baluchestan, This university started its academic activities in 1975. Over the years, the university has gained valuable experiences in education and training qualified experts while fulfilling an important role in education and research. The university of Sistan and Baluchistan is comprised of Thirteen faculties, two research centers, a graduate school, and an education complex comprising kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school to meet the increasing needs of the country and the province. It has approximately 15000 undergraduate and 900 graduate students .
Tabriz University of Medical Sciences
Tabriz University, one of the oldest and biggest centers of education was founded in 1947. According to the parliament low statute, which was ratified in year 1985, University of Medical Sciences got separated from its mother Tabriz University and started its own educational research and remedial activities independently. Ever since similar to other medical universities in other parts of the country, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) also merged with local provincial health and treatment organizations and since then, this university has been actively involved not only in academics but also in research, health and treatment tasks. It offers a wide range of opportunities and excellent facilities for studies.
