The University of Havana  
The University of Havana, 280 years old, is a model for developing nations due to its inclusive nature and the human values that it promotes, and as a public asset in terms of quality, efficiency and equity, Haddad told the National Information Agency.

Virtual Health University  
The Institute of Tropical Medicine "Pedro Kourí" (IPK) was founded on 8 December 1937, annexed to the University of Havana Medical School. The work developed by its founder, Professor Pedro Kourí, in the field of parasitological research, made it possible for the Institute to reach a site of deserved prestige among parasitologists and other specialists, dedicated to Tropical Medicine all over the world.

It is from here that groups like the Insurrectional Movement of Revolutionary Recovery (Movimiento Insurreccional de Recuperacion Revolucionaria (MRR) ,the Peoples Revolutionary Movement (Movimiento Revolucionario del Pueblo), the Revolutionary Students Directorate (Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil, DRE) and the Christian Democratic Movement (Movimiento Democrata Cristiano MDC) emerged. Its guiding force was a Jesuit priest named Amando Llorente.
