UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL
Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) is located in Porto Alegre City, capital of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brasil. It is a centennial institution, both nationally and internationally acknowledged, where courses from Fundamental to Post-Graduation levels are regularly administered in all fields of knowledge. The qualification of its faculty members, mostly composed by MAs., MScs. and PhDs., the permanent updating of laboratory and library structures, the relevance given to student assistance as well as the priority of inserting UFRGS into both national and international excellence teaching have been the main targets of current academic policies.

The University of Brasilia Foundation was created by Law 3.988 of December 15th, 1961. Professor Darcy Ribeiro, who became its first Chancellor, was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of its creation. The architect Oscar Niemeyer designed its main building, the Central Institute of Science (ICC). From its very beginning, the University of Brasilia (UnB) strived for excellence in teaching, research and outreach courses open to the community at large, thereby ranking as one of the most respected universities in Brazil

The origins in Brazil of the university go back as far as the 19th century, when it first appeared in the Republic as a continuation of a process that began during the Empire, with the opening of the first institutions of higher education. In Minas Gerais, the first institution of higher education, the School of Pharmacy in Ouro Preto, was founded in 1839. UNIVERSIDADE DO ESTADO DO RIO DE JANEIRO
In 1950, four faculties of what was, in those days, the Brazilian capital, joined together to found the Rio de Janeiro State University (henceforth UERJ). Since then UERJ has flourished and established itself as one of the foremost universities in the country. UERJ’s importance on the Rio state and Brazilian academic scene in general may be witnessed by the quality of both its teaching staff, as well as its state-of-art scientific production. In addition, there are hundreds of extra-mural projects, which have been developed as part of the University’s mission involving people from the State of Rio de Janeiro.

UNIVERSIDADE REGIONAL DE BLUMENAU
Portuguese for Foreigners at Furb was created in 1975 initally to meet the needs of Japanese and German groups who came to the city on business and needed to learn Portuguese. At that time, the Language Laboratory - a centre responsible for teaching foreign languages to undergraduate students - undertook the responsibility to teach Portuguese as a foreign language and developed its own methodology based on the audio-lingual method which gave emphasis to conversation besides reinforcing grammar. The course has been restructured due to the increase of interest of people from all over the world in the oral skills of the Portuguese language and the Brazilian way of living and cultural behaviour. Nowadays, a bridge between the language and the Brazilian culture has been created to offer student a clear picture of our habits, traditions and communication during the classes and extra activities. Our course was designed with one goal in mind: to provide the students with every opportunity to learn the language.
UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE GOIAS
In 1963, the School of Agronomy and Veterinary was founded in order to attend to the demands from the agricultural and cattle-raising sector. Nowadays they constitute two distinct schools of studies. In 1964, the Institute of Mathematics and Physics began its activities. After the university reform in 1968, the School of Philosophy was divided up into the Institute of Human Sciences and Languages, the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Geophysical Sciences, the Institute of Biological Sciences and the School of Education. The Institute of Arts was also created as a result of the union between the Conservatory and the School of Arts. Later, two more schools of studies were created in the field of Health Studies: the Institute of Tropical Pathology and the School of Nursing and Nutrition.
UNIVERSIDADE DO VALE DO ITAJAI
The foundation of the University of Vale do Itajaí – Univali - on March 21st 1989, was a natural step in the history of higher education in Itajaí and neighboring towns. The origin of the university dates back to 1964, when the Sociedade Itajaiense de Ensino Superior – SIES (Itajaí Society for Higher Education) signed, on September 16th, the official documentation to set up its first two faculties: the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters. On September 22nd, the SIES, a private institution, was converted into a government-owned authority, through municipal law.

In the initial history of the city of Belém, around the XVII Century, it is told that where the “campus” Alcindo Cacela is located, main center of the University of Amazon, indian boats and river bank inhabitants used to anchor. In a city interweaved by rivers and streams, our settlers used to have this area as an advanced post, a communication center with the Amazon rivers, receiver and distributor for the survival supplies produced in the countryside of the State.

Feevale is an educational institution that plays a distinctive role on both the national and the regional stage, due to its innovative actions and its social projects. Feevale’s history began on June 28th, 1969, when "Associação Pró-Ensino Superior" (ASPEUR) was founded in Novo Hamburgo. Throughout these years, many important commitments regarding regional social development were made, based on the ethics and the transparency of the relations that the Institution has with its public.
