The University of Paris-Sud 11 is the largest campus in France! It has five locations, namely the towns of Orsay, Sceaux, Châtenay-Malabry, Cachan, and Kremlin-Bicêtre, all in the southern suburbs of Paris.Paris-Sud University is involved in almost all fields of the knowledge except human sciences. Université Louis Pasteur

École des Mines de Paris  
In 1778, Louis XVI decided to create at the Hôtel des Monnaies (the Mint) "a Chair of mineralogy and metallugical docimasy, in which the professor appointed by the King will give free public lessons in this science". By an Order in Council of 19 March 1783, the King "resolved to create a mining school, similar to that for roads and bridges which had been set up with great success during the reign of the late King" in 1747. The new "Ecole des Mines" (School of Mining), with Sage as its Principal, was installed in the Hôtel de la Monnaie in place of the Chair in Mineralogy.

University at Sea  
From July 12th to 24th, 2003, 30 students from the universities of Brest and Bordeaux (France) and from Purdue University (USA) embarked on a 12-day oceanographic cruise on the research vessel Marion Dufresne, operated by the French Polar Institute (IPEV). The University at Sea was an opportunity for these students to get high-level training in marine geology and geophysics in the framework of an actual research cruise. The research was dedicated to paleoclimatology, sedimentology, and paleoseismicity. The scientific team included scientists from France, Spain, Portugal, Wales, and Germany.

Malaria is a parasitic disease causing a major public health problem in more than 90 countries inhabited by some 2,400 million people (40 percent of the world's population). Malaria is estimated to cause up to 500 million clinical cases and over one million deaths each year, most of them children under five. In Africa, malaria is the leading cause of death among young children, killing a child every 30 seconds. Today, Malaria is also spreading in to new areas, such as Central Asia, and Eastern Europe.

University of Washington to Create Electric Bike Share Program  
University of Washington is teaming up with Intrago to create an electric bike share program for its Seattle campus. The self-rental bicycles will work much like traditional bike share programs: users are given a special pass to unlock bicycles from stations located throughout campus, and then return them just as easily. The only difference between this system and a more conventional one is that the bikes have an electric assist for hills and longer distances, circumventing one of the more common excuses for not riding a bike. It is unclear what kind of battery the bicycles make use of.

University of Strasbourg saw a sharp increase in the number of students: there were 5440 in 1956 and 16 221 in 1966. This increase led to the building of a new campus (Esplanade).In 1968, the university was divided in three: Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg I), the Faculty of Arts (Strasbourg II), and Robert Schuman (Strasbourg III). In 1998, the Faculty of Arts was renamed Marc Bloch. Nowadays, second only after Paris, Strasbourg is the most international university.
