Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) has established the world's first commercial internet link from the outside world to Burma, where the military regime practices pervasive censorship. The connection is to Eagle IT, which provides a commercial email service for the fledgling private sector in the country, and is currently developing an educational intranet and internet service for the Burmese government.
